In preparation for their final showdown of the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, the Netherlands have implemented a surprising alteration to their squad. The Dutch team are gearing up to take on the hosts, India, in the upcoming clash, on November 12, designated as Match 42 of the prestigious tournament. The battleground for the cricket spectacle is none other than the M. Chinnsawamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Netherlands’ campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023

Having secured victory in two out of their eight encounters, the Netherlands are currently positioned at the bottom of the league table in the World Cup 2023. Notably, one of their standout triumphs occurred against South Africa in Dharamsala, where they orchestrated a formidable performance, compelling the Proteas into a significant collapse.

Another victory for the Netherlands transpired against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Guided by the leadership of Scott Edwards, the team will be determined to cap off their World Cup journey on a high note, showcasing their best efforts in the face-off against the dominant Indian side.

Netherlands’ notable change in the squad

In a recent development, a change has been made to the Netherlands’ team as pacer Ryan Klein got eliminated, allowing young batter Noah Croes to be included into the 15-player squad. Klein’s departure stemmed from a back injury, paving the way for the presence of Croes in the playing group.

Despite his limited experience, Croes earned his spot after a solitary ODI appearance during the July ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier final. The decision to incorporate the 23-year-old cricketer into the squad received approval from the tournament’s Event Technical Committee on Thursday.

“The alteration was approved by the tournament Event Technical Committee on Thursday, meaning Croes could feature against unbeaten India in Bengaluru on Sunday,” the ICC release stated.
