South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma comes up with a hilarious reply to the presenter's question - IND vs SA
The Match 37 between India and South Africa was undeniably one of the most highly anticipated games of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Both teams boasted strong bowling and aggressive batting lineups, dominating the points table. The Men in Blue held a slight advantage over the Proteas, having won one more match in the same number of games.

The stage was set at Eden Gardens for what was expected to be a thrilling contest, but it ultimately turned into a disappointing turn of events. The hosts continued their impressive form displayed throughout the tournament, while South Africa deviated from their expected performance, leading them to a humiliating 243-run defeat.

India’s domination at the Eden Gardens

Choosing to bat first on a challenging pitch of Eden Gardens, India Captain Rohit Sharma set a strong foundation with his quickfire 40 off 24 balls. However, South Africa made a comeback by taking two important wickets.

Virat Kohli then played a pivotal role, forming a crucial partnership of 134 runs for the third wicket alongside Shreyas Iyer. Their partnership helped India set a competitive target of 327 runs. During the innings, Kohli equalled Sachin Tendulkar‘s longstanding ODI century record by reaching his 49th century, remaining unbeaten on 110, while Iyer contributed 77 runs from 87 balls.

In response, the Bavuma-led side struggled against the relentless bowling of Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja, with the latter achieving a five-wicket haul. As a result, India bundled out South Africa for a mere 83 runs, sealing a resounding victory.

Temba Bavuma’s chucklesome response

After the match, Temba Bavuma showcased his sense of humour during the post-match presentation, as demonstrated by his witty response to the presenter’s question about whether the powerplay was the most challenging aspect for his team. In a light-hearted manner, Bavuma delivered a humorous comment, adding a touch of levity to the proceedings.

“Was it the first 10 overs that hurt you the most?” the broadcaster asked Bavuma.

“Definitely. But with the bat or the ball?” Bavuma funnily said in response.
