Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed bowled superbly in his maiden international game. On Day 1 of the second Test between Pakistan and England in Multan, Abrar picked seven wickets for 114 runs in 22 overs. He sent Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Ollie Pope, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes and Will Jacks back to the pavilion.

Pakistan bundled out England for 281 as Zahid Mahmood claimed the last three wickets. For England, Duckett (63) and Pope (60) scored half-centuries, but it was debutant Abrar who grabbed the attention of fans and experts with his sensational bowling performance.

Abrar cleaned up Stokes with a peach of a delivery

The highlight of Abrar’s seven scalps was the dismissal of Stokes, who was at the receiving end of an unplayable delivery.

It all happened in the 43rd of England’s first innings as Abrar drew Stokes into the forward defense. The ball spun away and beat the outside edge of Stokes’ bat before hitting the top of off-stump.

The England captain was left shell-shocked by the peach of a delivery from Abrar. Stokes could not believe the amount of turn the ball had to evade his bat.

After the end of the day’s play, Abrar spoke about his conversation with former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed ahead of joining the national team’s squad. The youngster also revealed that he had a conversation with the senior cricketer ahead of the second Test on Friday.

“Saifi bhai se achha talluk hain, bohot kareebi hain. Vo ye hi bolte the ki Abrar, jaise bhi khelo, ghabraana nahi hai. Jaise Sindh ke liye ho vaise hi khelna hai. Kamyaabi milegi. (I have good relations with Sarfaraz bhai. He keeps telling me to not worry. I need to play the same way I play for Sindh, and I will get success),” Abrar said in the press conference.
