Boris Johnson has warned that “an avoidable disaster still hangs in the balance” as he updated ministers in the Commons on developments at COP26, which began this week in Glasgow.
The prime minister said: “Whether we can summon the collective wisdom and will to save ourselves from an avoidable disaster still hangs in the balance and we will press on with the hard work until the last hour.”
Outlining an array of international agreements, Johnson said: “The UK has doubled our commitment to international climate finance to £11.6 billion and we will contribute another £1 billion if the economy grows as is forecast.”
