Boris Johnson has doubled down on claims that he has had ‘assurances’ that no rules were broken at Downing Street over a Christmas party.
Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions, the prime minister said: “I apologise for the impression that has been given… I’m sickened myself and furious.”
An incredulous Starmer said: “The prime minister, the government, spent the week telling us there was no party. The public now think the prime minister was taking them for fools.”
