In a pre-tournament interview with Cricket Pakistan, Shadab Khan, the captain of the Islamabad side, shared his perspectives on the upcoming competition, spotlighting Quetta Gladiators as the team to watch out for.

Intriguingly, Shadab pointed out that, on paper, the Gladiators boast the most formidable team, with a well-balanced side that holds the potential to make a significant impact in the tournament. “On paper, I feel that the Quetta Gladiators have the best team. All teams seem good on paper, but personally, I think they [Quetta Gladiators] have a better balanced side. However, I don’t know how each team will perform in the tournament, but on paper, they seem to be a good team,” Shadab said.

Big change in the team leadership

Meanwhile, the Gladiators have undergone a notable leadership change with the appointment of South African cricketer Rilee Rossouw as the new captain for PSL season 9. This leadership transition sees the accomplished Sarfaraz Ahmed, known for his stellar PSL track record and title victory in 2019, passing the captaincy baton to Rossouw. Additionally, Saud Shakeel has been named as the vice-captain, symbolizing a new era of leadership for the franchise.
