Deputy prime minister, Dominic Raab, faced questions from the deputy Labour leader, Angela Rayner, at Prime Minister’s Questions today in the House of Commons.

Rayner seemed to enjoy her time in the spotlight, aiming a few personal jabs at Raab, saying: “A worker on the minimum wage would need to work an extra 50 days to pay for a single night at his favourite resort.”

“Probably, Mr Speaker, even more if the sea was open.”

Raab offered an assured display, although he dodged the personal questions, responding: “If she wants to talk about taxes and easing the burden on the lowest paid I’ll remind her. Whenever a Labour Party has gone into government, the economy has nosedived, unemployment has stalled and taxes have gone through the roof.”
