India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant released an official statement on Monday and expressed gratitude towards two of his rescuers and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Pant posted a picture of Rajat Kumar and Nishu Kumar with his mother and thanked them for helping him after the accident, terming them “two heroes”.

“I may not have been able to thank everyone individually, but I must acknowledge these two heroes who helped me during my accident and ensured I got to the hospital safely. Rajat Kumar & Nishu Kumar, Thank you. I’ll be forever grateful and indebted,” Pant captioned his post.

Notably, a few weeks back, Pant met with a car accident while driving from Delhi to Roorkee and was injured badly.

Before extending gratitude to his helpers, Pant acknowledged the efforts by the BCCI, its secretary Jay Shah and other government authorities. The 25-year-old also thanked his fans and medical staff for their support.

In his tweets, Pant stated that his surgery was a success and he’s on the road to recovery. BCCI had airlifted the southpaw in the first week of January for extensive treatment of his ligament injuries.

“I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. I am glad to let you know that my surgery was a success. The road to recovery has begun and I am ready for the challenges ahead. Thank you to the BCCI, Jay Shah & government authorities for their incredible support.” tweeted Pant.

“From the bottom of my heart, I also would like to thank all my fans, teammates, doctors and the physios for your kind words and encouragement. Looking forward to see you all on the field. #grateful #blessed,” he added

During the car crash, Pant had torn all three of his knee ligaments; the third surgery will take place after six weeks from now. Therefore he is likely to miss six months of action on the field. It has already been confirmed that the Delhi cricketer won’t feature in the upcoming IPL, which starts in first week of April.
