Following another disappointing performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Gujarat Titans (GT), RR all-rounder Riyan Parag posted a cryptic tweet that seemed to be a response to the severe criticism he received for his lacklustre batting display.

Despite being retained by his franchise for several seasons, Parag has yet to become the go-to player for the Royals. This year has been particularly disappointing for him, with his performances falling short of expectations. Having played a total of six IPL 2023 matches, he has struggled to score runs, accumulating only 58 in total with a poor average of 11.60.

Parag is one of the few players who like to speak his mind on social media, and somehow, this has been the reason behind his trolling. Ahead of the ongoing 16th season of the cash-rich league, he had tweeted: “My inner conscience says i’m hitting 4 sixes in an over at some point this IPL.” However, the tweet has not aged well for Parag as he has hit only 3 sixes from 6 games.

In the 48th match of IPL 2023, Parag came in as an Impact Player for Rajasthan. But Friday night turned out to be yet another poor outing for the Assam-born cricketer as he was trapped in front by Rashid Khan for just 4 runs. No wonder the fans were frustrated, and they mercilessly trolled Parag after he once again failed to live up to the finisher tag.

Amid all the criticism, Parag took to Twitter to share his feelings. He wrote: “Waqt acha ho ya bura Guzar he jata hai! (Good or bad times, both eventually pass)”.

In the match between RR and GT, the Royals were bundled out for 118 in 17.5 overs after opting to bat first. Captain Sanju Samson was the top-scorer with 30 off 20 balls. For the tourists, Rashid bagged a three-wicket haul and Noor Ahmad picked up two scalps. In reply, Gujarat chased down the paltry target in 13.5 overs with nine wickets in hand.
