India records an emphatic victory at Newlands
In a thrilling turn of events, India levelled the series against South Africa with a commanding seven-wicket triumph in the second Test at Newlands. Jasprit Bumrah’s remarkable 6 for 61 in South Africa’s second innings contributed to India wrapping up their opponents for just 176 just before lunch on Day 2.
India efficiently chased down the target of 79 runs in 12 overs, securing victory. Rohit Sharma (16 not out) and Shreyas Iyer (4 not out) guided the team home, with valuable contribution from left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (28).

After registering their first win at Newlands, Team India skipper Rohit heaped praises on young pacer Mohammed Siraj, who wrecked havoc during South Africa’s first innings, bundling out them for a paltry total of 55 in the first session of play on day one.
“Very very special. Something that we don’t get to see quite often. We spoke about keeping things very simple because the pitch will do the rest for us. And that’s exactly what happened. Lot of credit to Siraj, Bumrah, Mukesh [Kumar] and Prasidh [Krishna]”, Rohit said in the post-match presentation.
