Bangladesh Women delivered a commanding performance in the first ODI of their tour of South Africa, securing a resounding 119-run victory over South Africa Women. Following a T20I series that ended on level terms, the guests dominated every aspect of the game, excelling with both bat and ball. Bangladesh’s batting lineup set an imposing total, while their bowlers skillfully dismantled Proteas’ batting order.

Murshida Khatun leads the charge for Bangladesh Women

Opener Hamima Sultana played a sensible knock before getting dismissed on 34 runs in 48 deliveries at a strike rate of 70.83. Fargana Hoque, on the other hand, fell victim to Delmi Tucker after contributing 35 runs in 76 balls with a strike rate of 46.05.

Murshida Khatun then took the charge and anchored her side in the game, remaining unbeaten with a score of 91 runs off 100 deliveries. Skipper Nigar Sultana, while providing a valuable contribution, got caught and bowled by Nonkululeko Mlaba after scoring 38 runs in 48 balls at a strike rate of 79.17.

Shorna Akter remained unbeaten with 27 runs off 28 deliveries, boasting a strike rate of 96.43. As a result, Bangladesh concluded their innings at the score of 250/3 in 50 overs.

South Africa Women’s sloppy performance with the bat

South Africa’s batting unit encountered a challenging day on the field, delivering a rather lackluster performance with the willow. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt faced an early dismissal. Tazmin Brits succumbed to Nahida Akter‘s delivery, getting adjudged lbw with just four runs off five balls. Anneke Bosch, after her short stint at the crease, became another prey of Akter, amassing 16 runs in 35 deliveries with a strike rate of 45.71.

Sune Luus offered some resistance, contributing 31 runs in 38 balls. The dismal batting display eventually led the hosts getting all out at the score of just 131 runs in 36.3 overs.
