The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is all set to commence from October 5. It is worth mentioning that the event will return to Indian shores after almost a decade and will see the participation of a total of ten nations.

With just a few months left for the mega tournament to get underway, many veteran cricketers have started coming forward with their predictions and their preferred strong squads for the teams. India’s former batter and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar also joined the list and picked India’s probable squad for the marquee World Cup while talking to a local media network.

India’s current ODI skipper Rohit Sharma has retained his post as captain in Manjrekar’s team. On the other hand, Rohit’s opening partner at the moment and young sensation Shubman Gill also maintained his position in the commentator’s squad.Shikhar Dhawan has made a surprise entry into Manjrekar’s 15-member team, with Virat Kohli being included among middle-order batters and KL Rahul making his comeback in the Indian side. He also included Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja come in as specialist all-rounders in the former cricketer’s team.

Speaking of the bowlers, the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have made their India return in Manjrekar’s squad with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna as specialist seamers.

It is worth mentioning that the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) hasn’t yet announced India’s team for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and a few of the players picked by Manjrekar are currently in rehabilitation and recovering from injuries. The ICC has set August 29 as the last date for squad submission.
