Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, putting on a brave face after being rejected by Donald Trump for the vice presidential slot, gave a speech at the Republican National Convention on Monday, where he assured the delegates that there is no racism in America.
“This is going to offend the liberal elites. Every time I say it, it offends them,” Scott promised. “But let me say it one more time. America is not a racist country! No, we're not.”
Whew, what a relief. But not really.
“But if you are looking for racism today, you'd find it in cities run by Democrats. Look on the south, look on the south side of Chicago, poor Black kids trapped in failing schools. Thousands shot every single year, including one of my former interns DaQuawn.”
Got it. So there’s no racism, except the racism that does exist.
“But there's good news,” Scott continued. “It's conservative values that restores hope.”
The Republican Party is at an all-time low, and Scott is here to dig down deeper.
