However, the team will travel without their regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan as the apex board has allowed him to continue his participation in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022. Shakib is representing Guyana Amazon Warriors as a replacement for Tabraiz Shamsi, though the former hasn’t yet made an appearance this season.
In the absence of Shakib, Nurul Hasan, who led the side against Zimbabwe in the T20I leg before returning home due to injury, will captain the side against UAE.
Meanwhile, Soumya Sarkar has returned to the T20I setup after previously representing his team in the home T20Is against Australia last year. Further, left-arm speedster Shoriful Islam was also named in the squad along with leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, who got a maiden call-up.
Bangladesh will depart for Dubai on Thursday evening (September 22) and are scheduled to play two T20Is against the host on September 25 and 27, respectively. The team is expected to return on September 28 before boarding the flight to New Zealand to feature in the tri-series involving the hosts and Pakistan. The tri-series will begin from October 7 in Christchurch.
