Shane Warne's ex-wife slams Warnie miniseries
Simone Callahan, the ex-wife of Australian cricket legend Shane Warne, has voiced her disapproval on Channel Nine’s new television mini-series titled ‘Warnie’. The series, which dramatizes Warne’s illustrious cricketing career, has sparked controversy since its release with the first two episodes airing recently.

Filmed in Melbourne, ‘Warnie’ features Australian actors Alex Williams and Marny Kennedy portraying the roles of Warne and Simone, respectively. The series also includes Shanti Kali playing the role of Warne’s former fiancée, Elizabeth Hurley.

In an interview with the Herald Sun, Simone expressed her criticism of the TV series, particularly highlighting the insensitivity of its airing while Warne’s family is still coming to terms with his passing. Simone and Warne were in a relationship from 1995 to 2005 and share three children together – Summer, Jackson and Brooke.

“I haven’t wanted to read into too much about it, but I think it’s a bit unkind and mean-spirited to be honest. He’s just passed, let him rest in peace. And for the kids, I just believe that they’re not showing any compassion at all by putting this out there in such a short amount of time after this has happened. To be honest but that’s how I feel about it,” Simone was quoted saying to the Herald Sun.

Simone’s concerns resonate with the timing of the series, as it touches upon sensitive aspects of Warne’s personal life. The airing of ‘Warnie’ has stirred emotions among those close to the cricketer, as his family continues to cope with his untimely death.

The controversy surrounding the TV series raises questions about the portrayal of public figures’ personal lives and the impact it can have on their loved ones. As ‘Warnie’ unfolds on screen, the debate over the boundaries of storytelling and respect for privacy continues.
