Pakistan fans were left shell-shocked when Ali missed the important catch of Matthew Wade in the 19th over bowled by Shaheen Afridi. The dropped catch had cost Pakistan big time as Wade went for three sixes in a row, sealing the game for the Aussies.

Babar Azam backs Hasan Ali
“I don’t feel like that. He is our main bowler and has won many matches for Pakistan. Players do drop catches sometimes. He is fighting it out and I will keep backing him. Every player cannot perform in every game. Some individuals who are having a good day try to make the most of it and come up with good performances,” Babar said in the post-match presentation.
“Yes, he is a bit down. We will keep backing him and giving him confidence. People will say a lot of things, but we are behind him,” he added.
Babar also said that they scored as many runs as they had planned and felt his side also bowled well in the first half but the chances they gave the opposition for a comeback cost them the match.
He further mentioned that the dropped catch of Wade was the ‘turning point of the game’ and had it been taken, the result could have been different.
For Hasan, the 2021 T20 World Cup did not end on the right note. In six games, he picked only five wickets at an economy rate of nine – the worst among all the Pakistani bowlers.
