Team India emerged victorious in the final of the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023, securing a resounding 31-run win against Bangladesh in a thrilling summit clash. The spin duo of Shreyanka Patil and Mannat Kashyap played starring roles with the ball, guiding India to a well-deserved triumph.

Opting to bat first, India set a modest target of 128 runs by posting a total of 127 for seven on the scoreboard. Dinesh Vrinda top-scored for the Indian side with a composed knock of 36 off 29 deliveries, while Kanika Ahuja remained unbeaten on 30 runs off 23 balls. Wicketkeeper Uma Chetry contributed 22 runs, and skipper Shweta Sehrawat scored 13 to help bolster India’s total.

In response, Bangladesh struggled to build momentum against a determined Indian bowling attack. Patil and Kashyap wreaked havoc, combining to claim seven wickets between them. Patil’s impressive figures of 4/13 and Kashyap’s contribution of 3/20 proved decisive in dismantling the Bangladeshi batting lineup. Bangladesh was eventually bundled out for 96 runs in 19.2 overs.

Sobhana Mostary and Nahida Akter were the top-scorers for Bangladesh, both contributing 16 runs. Akter remained unbeaten on 17, fighting valiantly until the end, but her efforts fell short in the face of India’s disciplined bowling attack.

Kanika, who had already made a significant impact with the bat, showcased her prowess with the ball as well. She claimed two crucial wickets for 23 runs, further solidifying her all-round performance in the final. As a result, Ahuja was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match accolade for her remarkable contributions.

Team India’s victory in the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup final signifies their remarkable skills and team effort. The players displayed exceptional talent, both with the bat and ball, to outclass Bangladesh and secure the championship title.
