New Zealand beat Pakistan in 3rd ODI
The deciding third and final ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand ended on a thrilling note where the visitors clinched a victory by two wickets at Karachi’s National Stadium on Friday. After losing the series opener, the Black Caps staged a remarkable comeback to win the next two matches and sealed the series 2-1.

Glenn Phillips was the chief architect behind New Zealand’s thrilling win as the right-handed batter produced a counterattacking masterclass to snatch the game from Pakistan’s grasp, smashing an unbeaten 63 off 42 deliveries to help his side chase down the target of 281 in the penultimate over.

Notably, the hosts were in control at one stage when the tourists needed 76 from 71 deliveries with only four wickets in hand. Phillips then took charge and immediately shifted the pressure back on Pakistan with some quick boundaries. While Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi eventually got out, Phillips continued smacking the Pakistan bowlers, guiding his side over the finish line with 11 balls to spare.

Earlier, Pakistan, after losing Shan Masood (0) and Babar Azam (4) in quick successions, got back on track thanks to a crucial stand between Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan for the third wicket. The partnership went past 150 before Sodhi broke it by dismissing Rizwan for a well-made 77.

Zaman, at the other end, reached the three-figure score but soon met a run-out. Pakistan were 206/4 after 40 overs and looked in a comfortable position to get to 300, but New Zealand kept taking regular wickets to restrict the home team to 280/9.

Fakhar Zaman is the only batter in Pakistan's ODI history who has an average of 45plus and a strike-rate of 90plus. Minimum: 1000 runs. #PakvNZ

Congrats to @BlackCaps for winning the ODI series, lot of positives for @therealPCB to reflect on. I am confident they’ll bounce back strongly.
Brilliant knock by Phillips to snatch the game from us, great to see Fakhar strike form & Rizwan continue to shine with the bat. (1/2)
