In the first Women’s T20I between Bangladesh and India, the tourists emerged victorious by 7 wickets at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Put in to bat, Bangladesh started their innings with determination but struggled to accelerate the scoring rate. They managed to post a total of 114 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sathi Rani top-scored for Bangladesh with 22 runs off 26 deliveries, including 4 fours. Shamima Sultana contributed a quickfire 17 runs off 13 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six.

Sobhana Mostary also made a valuable contribution with 23 runs off 33 balls, hitting 2 fours. Shorna Akter played a crucial knock of 28 runs off 28 deliveries, smashing 2 sixes. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to make significant contributions. Pooja Vastrakar and debutant Minnu Mani were the pick of the bowlers for India, taking 1 wicket each and conceding 16 and 21 runs respectively.

Chasing a target of 115 runs, India showcased a dominant batting performance and achieved victory with 22 balls to spare. Opener Shafali Verma was dismissed for a duck early on, but Smriti Mandhana provided a solid start with 38 runs off 34 balls, including 5 fours.

Jemimah Rodrigues contributed 11 runs, however, it was captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who led from the front with an impressive knock of 54 runs off just 35 deliveries, featuring 6 fours and 2 sixes. Yastika Bhatia chipped in with 9 runs. India reached the target in the 16th over with the loss of only 3 wickets.
