India beat England in the Rajkot Test
In a stunning display of dominance, Team India completely overwhelmed England on the fourth day of the third Test at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The hosts set a formidable target of 557 runs after declaring their second innings at 430/4. But England batters crumbled and got bundled out for 122 to lose the contest.

Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma rescue India from early trouble

Facing adversity early in the game at 33/3, India found their saviors in Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma. Jadeja, elevated to number 5, showcased his prowess with a brilliant century, forming a crucial partnership of 204 runs with the skipper, ultimately helping India post a competitive total of 445.

England’s initial resilience falters

Despite a promising start for England, highlighted by Ben Duckett‘s exceptional century on day two, their fortunes took a downturn on day three. The absence of India’s key spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, seemed like an advantage initially. However, India’s bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, along with Mohammed Siraj‘s superb performance, restricted England’s lead to 126 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double ton powers India to set up a massive target

During India’s second innings, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal sizzled with the bat by smashing yet another double century of his already impressive career. Jaiswal’s innings was characterized by sheer dominance, as he smashed 12 sixes during his stay. He remained unbeaten at 214 runs when India declared their second innings at 430/4, and gave England a massive target of 557 runs.

England’s collapse in final innings

Facing a daunting target in the final innings, England’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure. Jadeja starred with the ball, claiming a remarkable 5-wicket haul for just 41 runs, while Kuldeep contributed with a valuable 2-wicket haul. England’s defeat by 434 runs marks India’s biggest win in the longest format of the game.

Phenomenal performance by India to play this well with all the absentees that have impacted their team in this test series. Shout out to Yashasvi Jaiswal. The way he has started his international career is very impressive.

This is a staggering capitulation from England. Test cricket demands many traits of character and in this game, England fell short on some traditional virtues like grit and resilience. Ranchi will be a very interesting examination of England's resolve.

During my time at RR, I was truly impressed with Jaiswal’s work ethic and commitment to the game. I have seen such a level of dedication from only a handful of youngsters throughout my career.
This kid is special, and this is definitely not the ceiling for him❤️
Well played!👏
