Rohit Sharma propels India to a competitive total
Winning the toss and electing to bat, India posted a competitive total of 213 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 49.1 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma led the charge with a splendid knock of 53 runs off 48 balls, including seven boundaries and two sixes. Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Ishan Kishan contributed 19, 39, and 33 runs, respectively, while Virat Kohli had a brief stay, scoring just 3 runs.
In the bowling department, Dunith Wellalage was the standout performer for Sri Lanka, claiming a remarkable 5 wickets for 40 runs in his 10 overs. Charith Asalanka also made a significant impact, securing 4 wickets for 18 runs in his 9 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav’s 4-fer steers India to final
Chasing a target of 214 runs for victory, Sri Lanka could only manage 172 runs for the loss of all their wickets in 41.3 overs. Dhananjaya de Silva was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with a resilient 41 runs off 66 balls, while Wellalage played a crucial knock of 42 runs off 46 balls, which included three fours and a six.
Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 43 runs in his 9.3 overs. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with 2 wickets each. In the end, India’s total proved to be too much for Sri Lanka to chase down, and the hosts fell short by 41 runs. With this victory, India have secured berth in the Asia Cup 2023 Final.
