In the final match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) took on Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. DC won the toss and elected to bat first.

DC got off to a good start with captain Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma scoring quickly. However, they lost quick wickets and were reduced to 40/4 in the seventh over. Radha Yadav and Shikha Pandey added crucial runs for the last wicket to take Delhi to a respectable total of 131/9 in 20 overs. Radha was the top scorer for her side with 27 not out off 12 balls.

For MI, Issy Wong and Hayley Matthews were the pick of the bowlers, picking up three wickets each.

In response, Mumbai got off to a slow start but Nat Sciver-Brunt played a match-winning knock of 60 runs off 55 balls to take the team to a comfortable victory. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also contributed with 37 runs off 39 balls. MI chased down the target with 3 balls to spare and won the match by 7 wickets.

Nat Sciver-Brunt did not win a global trophy in the last one year only because she isn't an Australian.

She deserved this.
