Ramesh Mendis puts Sri Lanka on top
Ramesh Mendis‘ scintillating all-round effort helped Sri Lanka reach a commanding position on Day 2 of their ongoing second Test against Pakistan in Galle.

Mendis first frustrated the Pakistan bowlers in the morning session with a vital 35 before destroying the visitor’s batting order by bagging three wickets.

The tourists were reduced to 191/7 at Stumps, trailing Sri Lanka’s first innings score of 378 by 187 runs.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah remained unbeaten on 13, while Agha Salman, who displayed excellent form with the bat, fell for 62 on the final delivery of the day’s play.

Brief Score:

Pakistan 191/7 (Agha Salman 62, Ramesh Mendis 3/42) trail Sri Lanka 378 (Dinesh Chandimal 80, Niroshan Dickwella 51, Oshada Fernando 50, Naseem Shah 3/58, Yasir Shah 3/83) by 187 runs.

Under the circumstances, a gallant display of self-belief, concentration & skills by Salman Ali Agha. Dividends of another chance despite failure on debut. The concept of one Test wonders should be eliminated. Bravo @SalmanAliAgha1 ?? more power to you.

Ramesh Mendis was almost dropped for the second Test after an unimpressive bowling effort last week. He’s bounced back well. Pitch still good for batting. Sri Lanka have bowled really well to take seven wickets. Mendis gutsy cricketer. Gun fielder and always chips in with bat. pic.twitter.com/kvMIDZT2o6

Bowlers enjoy plying their trade in the second innings but what stands out in these stats is Yasir Shah's strike-rate. As good as some fast bowling greats. A wicket every 46 balls! #SLvPAK #yasirshah pic.twitter.com/swV9YySIZD
