England beat India in 2nd ODI
England thrashed India in the second ODI by 100 runs and bounced back in grand style to level the ongoing three-match series at the iconic Lord’s in London.

Left-arm pace bowler Reece Topley was the star of the night for the hosts. The seamer picked up his career-best figures in the 50-over format to bamboozle Indian batting in their chase of 247. Topley demolished the ‘Men in Blue’ by bagging an eye-catching six-wicket haul while conceding only 24 runs in 9.5 overs, including a couple of maidens.

The Essex pacer removed both openers Rohit Sharma (0) and Shikhar Dhawan (9), followed by ‘Mr 360’ Suryakumar Yadav (27). He then removed the tailenders Mohammed Shami (23), Yuzvendra Chahal (3) and Prasidh Krishna (0) to complete his six-wicket feat and help his side pack visitors for 146, as England won by 100 runs.

Earlier, India restricted England at 246 in 49 overs, thanks to disciplined bowling by Chahal, who picked up four scalps for 47 in his quota of 10 overs. The home team was struggling with 102/5 at one stage before Liam Livingstone (33), Moeen Ali (47), and David Willey (41) made valuable contributions down the order to help England reach near the 250-run benchmark.

“Terrific team performance to bounce back from the other day. Happy to play my part. Means a lot, makes it all worthwhile. Had surgery like three years ago over the back of that stand. It’s everyone’s dream to play for England. Play my part to win games. Big game at the weekend, got to prepare for that, and then look back at the series,” said ‘Player of the Match’ Topley in the post-match presentation.

Reece Topley: 9.5-2-24-6. Best bowling figure by an England bowler in ODI against India – there were times that he might not play but come back strongly and he did it for his country in the must win game. pic.twitter.com/tuUEqrYFst
