Khawaja’s brilliant comeback after an average outing on previous English tour:

It is worth mentioning that Khawaja displayed immense determination and skill throughout the Ashes 2023 and amassed impressive 496 runs at an average of 49.60, which included one hundred and three fifties. This remarkable performance was a far cry from his last outing in England in 2019, when he struggled with the bat and could manage only 13, 40, 36, 2, 9, and 23 in the first three Tests, with a meagre average of 20.33.

Rachel’s message encapsulated the joy and pride of witnessing her husband’s triumphant return to the forefront of Test cricket as she vividly reflected on Khawaja’s last Ashes in England, which seemed to mark the end of his Test career. She then highlighted the Aussie opener’s unwavering determination to bounce back from that challenging position and lauded him for his hard work.

“Words can’t describe just how proud I am of you for what you have achieved this Ashes series. The last Ashes in England marked what we thought was the end of your test career. The way in which you have fought your way back from that position is something truly incredible,” wrote Rachel.

“To walk away the leading run scorer 4 years on is something to be admired. We are so proud of you Uzzy and so grateful we got to come along for the ride,” she added.
