Angry Ashish Nehra scolding GT skipper Hardik Pandya
Gujarat Titans (GT) took on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday (May 15). GT emerged victorious in the contest by 34 runs and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in the ongoing tournament. On the other hand, SRH’s hopes of reaching the knockouts suffered a setback, as they were eliminated from the race.

Although Gujarat registered a comprehensive win over Hyderabad, there was also a moment in the game where GT head coach Ashish Nehra lost his cool and scolded his team’s skipper Hardik Pandya on the sidelines of the boundary ropes.

The incident took place towards the end of the GT innings when Shubman Gill departed after scoring a blazing ton. Soon after Gill’s dismissal, the Ahmedabad-based franchise were pushed on the backfoot and lost four wickets in the final over. Nehra was very unhappy with the team’s sudden downfall and indulged in a heated conversation with Hardik. The video of the same has gone viral on the internet.

Coming back to the match, Gill’s brilliant 101 off 58 balls guided GT to a competitive total of 188/9 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged a fifer for SRH in the clash.

In reply, Hyderabad failed terribly in the run chase and lost four of their batters with just 29 runs on the board. Heinrich Klaasen top-scored for his team and scored resilient 64 runs, but unfortunately SRH fell 34 runs short and ended up losing the contest. Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma picked four wickets each for the Hyderabad-based team in the contest.

Hardik and Co. will now be seen in action when they face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in their last league stage fixture on Thursday (May 17).
