The touring party rode on Devon Conway‘s brilliant century and a remarkable knock of 85 by captain Kane Williamson to put a respectable total on the board. Though at one stage, it looked like the visitors would easily reach the massive total, but Pakistan’s bowlers came back and restricted the run-flow.
During New Zealand’s innings, an unusual incident occurred where the on-field umpire Aleem Dar got hit by a throw from a fieder. It all happened during the 36th over when Glenn Phillips hit a shot off Haris Rauf to the deep square leg. Mohammad Wasim Jr collected the ball and threw it towards the non-strikers’ end.
However, the direction of Wasim’s throw wasn’t perfect, as it ended up hitting on Aleem’s leg. Immediately, the veteran match official looked in pain and was seen wobbling. Aleem was clearly not amused as he threw Rauf’s sweater in frustration. Though, he calmed down soon and was spotted smiling while Naseem Shah was seen rubbing Aleem’s feet.

“300 wasn’t in our mind”: Kane Williamson on New Zealand’s total
Despite losing the plot to reach the 300-run mark, New Zealand skipper Williamson said the 300 figure wasn’t in their mind as they knew a decent score at this surface would bring a big challenge in chasing.
“There were a few challenges in both innings, and it was good to get the win. We sort of felt that even though we had a good partnership, 300 wasn’t on our mind. There were some good contributions towards the end to get us to a par total. We knew it would be a tough chase, and we knew we had to execute our plans, get something out of the surface and the spinners did that,” said Williamson at the post-match presentation.
