Dhananjay De Silva hit wicket
Dhananjay de Silva put on a good batting display for Sri Lanka in the ongoing first against West Indies at the Galle International Stadium in Colombo. He played a handy knock off 61 runs on Day 2, before getting out in a bizarre fashion.

The incident took place in the 95th over of Sri Lanka’s first innings, when West Indies pacer Shannon Gabriel delivered a length bowl outside off, which Silva tried to defend on the back foot. The batter was taken aback by the sudden bounce, and tried to stop the ball from hitting the stumps, but failed to do so.

Here’s the video:

Sri Lanka managed to post 386 runs in their first innings. Captain Dimuth Karunaratne outplayed West Indies bowlers and scored 147 off 300 balls.

Similarly, opening batter Pathum Nissanka (56), De Silva (61) and wicketkeeper Dinesh Chandimal’s (45) contribution took Sri Lanka to a solid total.

Rostan Chase was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors with five wickets for 83 runs.

In reply, West Indies lost two early wickets of Jermaine Blackwood (20) and Nkrumah Bonner (1) for just 51. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite played a gritty knock of 42 before being dismissed in the post lunch session.

On Day 3, West Indies have scored 224/9 in 80 overs with Rahkeem Cornwall (33) and Joshua Da Silva (5) at the crease.
West Indies will be aiming to gain lost momentum on Day 4.

For Sri Lanka, Praveen Jayawickrama and Ramesh Mendis took 3 wickets each.
