Dunith Wellalage’s 5-fer restrict India at a paltry total

Team India faced a challenging task after being bundled out for just 213 runs in 49.1 overs. Sri Lanka’s bowlers, particularly Dunith Wellalage and Charith Asalanka, delivered outstanding performances to restrict the Indian batting lineup. Wellalage’s brilliant 5-wicket haul included the dismissals of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya. Asalanka supported him with a 4-wicket haul.

In response, Sri Lanka fought valiantly with Dhananjaya de Silva (41 off 66) and Wellalage (42 off 46) providing crucial support. However, they ultimately fell short of the target, being bowled out for 172 runs in 41.3 overs.

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball for India, securing four crucial wickets for 43 runs in 9.3 overs. Similarly, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja contributed with 2 wickets for 33 runs in his 10 overs.
