Oval Invincibles locked horns with the Manchester Originals in the 13th match of The Hundred Men’s Competition 2023. The match took place at the iconic Kennington Oval and witnessed an impressive display of batting and bowling prowess.

Asked to bat first, the Oval-based team came out firing and posted a formidable total of 186/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Jason Roy provided a solid foundation with a composed knock of 59 runs off 42 balls. However, the highlight of the innings was Heinrich Klaasen‘s scintillating performance. The wicketkeeper-batter scored a blistering 60 off 27 deliveries, featuring two fours and an impressive six maximums. Among those six biggies hammered by Klaasen during his sensational inning, one travelled a long distance and left everyone in awe.

Klaasen’s massive six over deep mid-wicket:

The massive hit by Klaasen came against Paul Walter on the 39th ball of the match when the Manchester bowler produced a straighter delivery to the Invincible batter, and he smacked it 20 rows back into the deep mid-wicket stands with a lightning bat flow. The huge six by the Proteas cricketer left everyone surprised.

Coming back to the match, Manchester Originals’ bowling attack struggled to contain the onslaught. Jamie Overton was the only standout bowler for the Originals, grabbing two crucial wickets while keeping the run rate in check.

Dominance from Oval Invincible bowlers:

In reply, Manchester Originals faced a terrible batting collapse as they were bowled out for a mere 92 runs in just 17.4 overs. Jos Buttler‘s contribution of 23 runs off 24 balls and Overton’s spirited 37 off 21 balls were the only highlights of an otherwise lacklustre inning.

On the other hand, the Oval Invincibles’ bowling attack exhibited exceptional skill and precision, led by a remarkable performance by Sunil Narine, who claimed three wickets for just 12 runs. Spencer Johnson, Gus Atkinson, and Nathan Sowter also made crucial breakthroughs, further dismantling the Originals’ batting lineup and guiding their team to a comprehensive 94-run win.

Klaasen won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his exceptional batting display that set the tone for the Invincibles’ dominant performance.
