The English onslaught
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, England started their innings decently, with Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow building a solid partnership. Malan showcased his prowess with the bat by scoring an impressive 31 runs off 39 balls and found an able support in Bairstow.
The English side almost seemed to be cruising after an opening stand of 82 until Iftikhar Ahmed intervened, swinging the momentum back in Pakistan’s favour.
Iftikhar Ahmed dismisses Dawid Malan
As the English innings progressed, Iftikhar delivered a tossed-up ball to Malan and induced him to attempt a reverse lap. The execution from the opening batter, however, was imperfect, resulting in a top-edge. The ball then rapidly went towards Rizwan behind the wickets, and he turned a potential miss into a game-changing moment with his reflexes and anticipation.
