In an electrifying moment at the start of the 2nd One-Day International (ODI) between Sri Lanka and India, Mohammed Siraj set the tone for the game with a stunning delivery on the first ball of the match.

Mohammed Siraj’s stunning delivery gets rid of Pathum Nissanka

Siraj’s opening over delivered a breakthrough as he dismissed Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka with a well-judged catch by KL Rahul. The ball, pitched just outside off-stump, angled in with a good length. Nissanka attempted to defend but was caught off guard as the ball seamed away, inducing an edge that flew low to Rahul’s right.

Rahul made a superb diving catch to dismiss Nissanka, leaving Siraj with the first wicket of the game and putting India on the board in spectacular fashion.

Wanindu Hasaranga misses out

Having won the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first. The team made two changes to its lineup, with Kamindu Mendis and Jeffrey Vandersay replacing Wanindu Hasaranga and Mohamed Shiraz.

Hasaranga’s absence is particularly notable; the dynamic all-rounder, known for his significant contributions with both bat and ball, is sidelined due to an injury. His exclusion has left fans and analysts pondering its potential impact on Sri Lanka’s performance.

Notably, the first ODI was a nail-biting contest, with both teams displaying their prowess. Sri Lanka set a target of 230 runs, losing 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. India, in their chase, matched the total but were all out in 47.5 overs, resulting in a thrilling and dramatic tie that left fans on the edge of their seats.
