Mumbai Indians (MI) had a forgetful last season in Indian Premier League (IPL), as they finished at the bottom of the points table with just four wins in 14 games. The disappointing run for the team also continued in the 2023 season, where they started terribly and went on to lose three matches in a row. However, the five times champion made a strong comeback in the fourth game against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday (April 11) and pulled off their maiden win of the tournament.

The match turned out to be a nail-biting thriller, with Mumbai claiming victory on the final ball of the game. MI skipper Rohit Sharma led his team from the front and contributed valuable 65 runs in the run chase. While Mumbai registered their first win of the IPL 2023 by defeating DC with six wickets remaining, the Delhi-based team suffered their fourth consecutive loss in the 16th edition of the league. Apart from Rohit, Tilak Verma also played a handy role in MI’s victory with a quickfire 41 off 29 balls.

After the match, Rohit was seen having a chat with his wife, Ritika, over a video call and was heard assuring the latter to bring the trophy for daughter Samaira. The conversation started with Ritika congratulating the MI skipper for the win and saying: “Congratulations, Sammy will be happy to see the trophy”. Meanwhile, Rohit replied: “Yeah, I will get the trophy for her”.

The couple further talked about the thrilling game as well. The official Twitter handle of MI shared the video of the same and captioned the post: “Ro on call with Rits after a nail-biting win in Delhi.”

Notably, Rohit was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his phenomenal performance in the contest. The 35-year-old opener will next be seen in action on Sunday (April 16) when MI faces Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium.
