Cricket fans were treated to a spectacular display of batting prowess and powerful hitting in Match 4 of the ongoing Uttar Pradesh T20 League. The electrifying clash between the Meerut Mavericks and the Kanpur Superstars at Green Park turned out to be a high-scoring affair where both sides ended up smashing 200-plus totals.

Swastik Chikara hits maiden century of UPT20 League​

The Meerut Mavericks got off to a solid start after being put in to bat by the Kanpur Superstars. Openers Shoaib Siddiqui and Uvaish Ahmed provided a steady foundation, with Siddiqui contributing 29 runs from 22 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six.

However, it was Swastik Chikara who stole the show with a scintillating century. Chikara’s explosive 100 runs from 57 deliveries, featuring 13 fours and 3 sixes, set the stage for a massive total. Chikara struck at a brilliant strike rate of 175.44 and remained unbeaten to make sure Meerut reached a formidable total.

Rinku Singh, the star of the previous game, chipped in with 42 runs off 24 balls, while Divyansh Joshi‘s quickfire 17 off just 4 balls, including 2 sixes, added valuable runs to the total. The Kanpur Superstars bowlers found it challenging to contain the Meerut’s batting onslaught.

Ankit Rajpoot and Aquib Khan picked up one wicket each, but they were expensive, conceding 50 and 25 runs respectively. Prashant Choudhary managed to take one wicket for 42 runs, while Vivek, Jasmer Dhankar, and Akshdeep Nath struggled to contain the Meerut’s batters.

Sameer Rizvi outshines Chikara’s batting effort with a mind-boggling ton​

Chasing a target of 205, the Kanpur Superstars put on a breathtaking display of power-hitting, led by Sameer Rizvi. Ansh Yadav contributed a valuable 48 runs off 39 balls to provide stability at the top. But, it was Rizvi’s blistering knock that stole the spotlight.

Rizvi smashed an incredible 122 runs off just 59 deliveries, which included 6 fours and a staggering 11 sixes. Akshdeep Nath’s cameo of 25 runs off 14 balls added to the Superstars’ total, while Sandeep Tomar chipped in with 7 runs off just 2 balls.

The Meerut Mavericks bowlers found it difficult to stem the tide of boundaries and sixes. Kunal Yadav managed to pick up one wicket for 38 runs, while Vaibhav Chaudhary took one wicket for 37 runs. The rest of the bowling attack, including Purnank Tyagi, Yogendra Doyla, Yash Garg, and Divyansh, struggled to contain the Superstars’ batsmen, ultimately allowing them to reach the target with an over to spare and seven wickets in hand.
