The opening ceremony of the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) took place at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, March 4.

Bollywood actresses, Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon, and the famous Punjabi singer and rapper AP Dhillon set the stage on fire with their electrifying performances. The local crowd and the special guests in Jay Shah (BCCI Secretary) and Arun Dhumal were spotted enjoying every bit of the 2023 WPL opening ceremony.

Kiara was the first one to perform at the marquee event. Her dance moves included performances on songs such as Bhool Bhulaiya, Burj Khalifa, Punjabban, Rangsari and Bijlee Bijlee. Soon after her performance, Kriti walked up to the stage.

Kriti began her performance inside the dressing room with ‘Chak De India’ played in the background. She then shook her legs on songs like Coca-Cola, Thumkeshwari, Sweety Tera Drama, Param Sundari. After the conclusion of her perfomance, Amritpal entered the ground with drum rolls and beats.

He started his performance with his popular number Brown Munde. The Gurdaspur-born also sang Excuses, Eh Munde, Tere Te, Insane, Drop Top,and several other Punjabi songs.

In the end, all the three performers came on the stage to thank the audience.

Talking about the WPL 2023, the T20 extravaganza will see 22 matches in its inaugural edition, including 20 round-robin games, an Eliminator and a final.

Five teams – Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC), UP Warriorz (UPW) and Gujarat Giants (GG) – will compete for the coveted title, with the grand finale scheduled on March 26 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
