The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 concluded with a victory for Team India, who won the four-match Test series against Australia by 2-1. The fourth Test was called a draw after exceptional performances from both teams in the first innings. The game concluded on Day 5, marking a thrilling end of the tournament.

After the match, India’s top-batter Virat Kohli presented his jersey to Australian players Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey. Kohli’s gesture was heartwarming and showed the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie between the two teams, even after fierce competition.

The fourth Test in Ahmedabad ended in a stalemate on Day 5, with Australia scoring 175 runs for the loss of two wickets. Matthew Kuhnemann and Travis Head returned to bat for Australia on the final day, and although Kuhnemann was dismissed early, Head went on to score an impressive 90.

Axar Patel’s delivery landed in a rough patch outside Head’s off stump, forcing him to drive. Head missed the shot, and the ball struck his stumps. This wicket gave India a glimmer of hope, but it was quickly extinguished when skipper Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne came together in the middle and put up an unbeaten 22-run partnership for the third wicket.

Despite several efforts, Indian bowlers could not dismiss Smith or Labuschagne, who ultimately decided to end the game in a stalemate with India captain Rohit Sharma.

Both teams will now lock horns in a three-match ODI series starting from Friday, March 17.
