Virat Kohli playing reverse sweep against Ravichandran Ashwin in nets
India’s star batter Virat Kohli is known for his clean strokeplay and classic shots. He is considered one of the most complete all-format batters in the world with proper cricketing strokes, and his technique has repeatedly attracted praise from many veteran and legendary cricketers.

However, the former India captain was recently seen playing a reverse sweep while practising in the nets against compatriot Ravichandran Ashwin. It is worth mentioning that the Indian team is currently in West Indies for a multi-format tour commencing with a Two match Test series from July 12.

Ahead of the first Test, the Indian players were seen sweating hard in the nets. Kohli also practised alongside others and faced four different bowling variations from different bowlers back to back.

Kohli first faced left-arm seam from Jaydev Unadakat, followed by Ashwin’s off-spin, Ravindra Jadeja‘s left-arm spin, and a local net bowler’s right-arm pace. Kohli even played a reverse sweep off Ashwin’s delivery during the training session that took everyone by surprise as the India maestro is rarely seen playing unorthodox cricketing strokes. The video of the same has now gone viral on the internet.

Speaking of Kohli’s record against the Caribbean side in Tests, the 34-year-old has a decent record against the Men in Maroon. The Delhi-born cricketer has played 14 Tests against West Indies, amassing 822 runs at an average of 43.26. Although the statistics indicate that Kohli has performed reasonably well against the Windies thus far, it stands as his second-weakest performance when compared to all the other nations he has competed against as per the standards set by him.

As far as India’s tour of the West Indies is concerned, India will lock horns with the hosts in three ODIs and five T20Is after the conclusion of the Test series before returning home.
