A disheartening campaign for England
England’s performance in the ODI World Cup 2023 has been far from what fans and cricket enthusiasts anticipated. The team, laden with talent and expectations, has faced a series of setbacks in the tournament. With just one win to their name and a string of losses, the defending champions find themselves at the bottom of the points table.
The situation has left England cricket fans and experts baffled, as they expected more from a team that boasts several world-class players. The pressure to defend their title has been immense, and the team’s inability to live up to these expectations has given rise to questions about what’s gone wrong.
Eoin Morgan’s concerns
Eoin Morgan, who led England to their first-ever ICC World Cup victory in 2019, has not held back in voicing his concerns. He described England’s performance in this tournament as ‘unprecedented’ and underlined the need for a deeper look into the team dynamics.

Morgan’s comments also raised eyebrows and fueled speculation about possible rifts or disagreements within the squad. Recently in an interview with Sky Sports, he said: “I’ve never come across a sports team that has underperformed like this England team, given the level of expectation that is on their shoulders. There’s something within the team that is definitely unsettled. I think there’s something else going on – there has to be.”
Liam Livingstone sets the record straight
Following England’s loss to India, all-rounder Liam Livingstone stepped forward to address Morgan’s comments and categorically denied any claims of internal strife within the team. Livingstone underscored the team’s profound respect for Morgan and asserted that there are no significant issues within the team’s dynamic.
“Everybody in that dressing room has got immense respect for Morgs. We all love Morgs, but hand on heart there is nothing going wrong in the team,” Livingstone stated in response to Morgan’s comments during an interview with reporters.
