South Africa‘s Tabraiz Shamsi offered his thoughts on Mitchell Starc‘s warning to Kusal Perera at the non-striker’s end in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 match between Australia and Sri Lanka at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday, October 16.

During the first essay, an intriguing incident unfolded that sparked discussions and debates among fans and players alike. Starc, a prominent fast bowler from Australia, issued a non-striker end run-out warning to Sri Lankan opener Perera, raising questions about the spirit of the game.

In the fixture, Starc interrupted his delivery stride on two occasions, during the first and fifth over, to alert Perera about his early departure from the non-striker’s crease. Instead of executing a dismissal, Starc chose to issue a warning. He also informed the line umpire of the situation, underscoring Perera’s recurring tendency to leave the crease prematurely.

While the warning incident captivated cricket enthusiasts, the game itself saw Sri Lanka’s openers, Perera and Pathum Nissanka, off to a flying start with a formidable 125-run partnership for the first wicket. However, the Australian side, a five-time world champion, mounted a strong comeback and ultimately dismissed the Sri Lankan team for 209 runs.
