Former opening batter and renowned commentator Virender Sehwag couldn’t resist adding a touch of humour to India‘s convincing victory over Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023 match at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Pakistan’s collapse and India’s dominance

Pakistan’s batting performance took an unexpected nosedive, as they squandered a promising start to post a below-par 191 runs. This total represents Pakistan’s third-lowest score against India in the history of World Cup, marking a significant low in this tournament. Despite promising contributions from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s middle and lower order crumbled under the relentless pressure of India’s bowling attack. It’s worth noting that Pakistan were once cruising at 155/2, but they couldn’t maintain their strong start.

As the Green Team crumbled, losing their last eight wickets for a mere 36 runs, Sehwag took a witty dig at the Pakistani batters. Known for his tongue-in-cheek tweets and humorous commentary, the 44-year-old playfully highlighted the batting struggles faced by Pakistan in the game.

“Hamaari Mehmaanawazi ki baat hi alag hai. Saare Pakistani player ko batting mili. Sabka khyaal rakha jaata hai. (Our hospitality is unparalleled. All Pakistani batters got a chance to bat. All are taken care of,” Sehwag wrote.
