In an electrifying match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India showcased an exceptional performance with both ball and bat against Pakistan.

Opting to bowl first on a pitch with slow and variable bounce, India initially found themselves on the back foot as Pakistan seemed to be cruising at 155-2, with captain Babar Azam completing his half-century and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan closing in on his own milestone. However, Azam’s dismissal, courtesy of Mohammed Siraj, triggered a dramatic batting collapse for Pakistan. They lost eight wickets for a mere 36 runs, ultimately posting a total of 191 on the scoreboard in 42.5 overs.

Rohit Sharma’s 86-run contribution, after an outstanding display by the bowlers, was pivotal in India’s resounding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Shreyas Iyer’s impactful 53 runs also played a crucial role in India’s dominant performance. He not only struck a boundary to complete his half-century, but also took his team over the finish line in 30.3 overs and 7 wickets in hand. With this win, India continued their winning streak over Pakistan in the World Cup matches, making it 8-0.

The Men in Blue will next take on Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19. Meanwhile, Pakistan will lock horns with Australia on Friday at Bengaluru’s M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
