In a notable incident, while adjusting the field in the second session, the 36-year-old was heard shouting at one of his teammates, “Kya yaar tum log *********,” which was captured on stump mic and circulated widely on social media.
The opening day of the summit clash proved to be extremely frustrating for the Indian bowlers. Apart from the early dismissal of three Australian batters, they struggled to find success as Travis Head and Steve Smith took control of the game and dominated the Indian bowling unit.
During the first day’s play, Head achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first player to score a century in the WTC final. The southpaw displayed exceptional form, scoring an impressive 146 not out just 156 deliveries. On the other hand, Smith reamined unbeaten on 95. Their unbroken partnership of 251 runs completely shifted the momentum in Australia’s favour.

Meanwhile, India captain Rohit was heavily criticized by cricketer-turner-commentator Sourav Ganguly. The former BCCI President blamed the shocking field placements made by Rohit for Head.
Ganguly felt that Travis was given easy singles when he was new to the crease.
“Travis Head was not tested when he came out to bat. He was given easy singles by setting up defensive fielding. He was able to rotate the strike and hit lose balls for boundaries,” Ganguly said on air.
