You have to be from Philly to appreciate Fetterman's latest burn of Oz

OK—very briefly, Pat’s Steaks and Geno’s Steaks are two competing cheesesteak franchises in South Philadelphia, each across the street from each other. Their friendly rivalry goes back decades and is a city tradition.

Arguments abound—and perhaps blows or worse have been exchanged—over which place makes the best Philadelphia cheesesteak (Note: The best cheesesteaks in Philadelphia proper (IMHO) are actually from Dalessandro’s in Roxborough, a completely different section of the city, but that’s neither here nor there).

John Kerry famously almost tanked his presidential aspirations by visiting Pat’s and ordering a cheesesteak with “Swiss,” rather than the traditional “w[h]iz” or provolone (he did end up winning the state—barely). The bottom line, is that such things matter.

At least to Philadelphians.

So when Republican senatorial candidate and erstwhile New Jersey resident carpetbagger Mehmet Oz recently made the required pilgrimage to Pat’s and Geno’s to troll for votes? Well, the seasoned, genuine Pennsylvanian Democratic candidate had a fitting riposte at the ready.

Ah yes, the trip to Pats + Geno's -- a rite of passage for every tourist. https://t.co/3v3iCe1y1k
