Brisbane Heat’s left-handed batter Matt Renshaw exchanged a few tense words with Sydney Thunder captain Chris Green after being dismissed in the Eliminator of ongoing Big Bash League (BBL).

The incident took place in the 19th over of the first innings as Green bamboozled the menacing Renshaw, who was till then striking the ball at will.

The southpaw departed after scoring 24 runs off just eight balls and his inning was laced with three huge sixes and one four.

Green, the Thunder off-spinner, was elated to send back Renshaw and showed some emotion which didn’t go down well with the batter. Renshaw said a few words to Green while walking back. The Thunder skipper responded with a smile and started celebrating with his teammates.

As far as the result of the match is concerned, Heat defeated Thunder by 8 runs (DLS method) to reach the Knockout, where they will face Melbourne Renegades.

Batting first, Heat posted a mammoth total of 203/5 on the scoreboard in their allotted 20 overs. Thanks to their captain Usman Khawaja and his partner Marnus Labuschagne as the duo added 128 runs for the second wicket in quick time. Khawaja smashed 94 runs off just 55 deliveries, while Labuschagne hit a 48-ball 73.

In reply, Thunder were 52 for 1 in 6.5 overs before the rail stopped play. They lost Matthew Gilkes early, but would have fancied their chances with David Warner (36 not out off 20) looking in ominous touch.

Well, it wasn’t to be Thunder’s night as rain came splashing down and Heat were declared the winners.

Brief scores: Brisbane Heat 203-5 in 20 overs (Usman Khawala 94, Marnus Labuschagne 73; Chris Green 2/29) beat Sydney Thunder 52-1 in 6.5 overs (David Warner 36 not out; James Bazley 1/3) by 8 runs (DLS Method).
